# Cursor

> Point Cursor at the Build docs and your key, paste one sentence, and let it write the call.

Use Cursor for: a file or an analysis. It reads the same docs as every other tool.

## Where the key goes

Keep the key in an environment variable or a `.env` file that is not committed, never in a file Cursor writes into your repo. The key is always named `BUILD_API_KEY`, and the prompt names the variable, never the key.

_To write: the exact steps and a screenshot for putting BUILD_API_KEY into Cursor_

## The prompt

Paste this into Cursor. It points your AI at the docs and at your key, then says what you want.

Prompt for cursor:

```
Read https://build.sellermate.ai/SKILL.md. My key is in BUILD_API_KEY. Export last month’s sales, fees, refunds and ad spend by SKU as one CSV for my bookkeeper.
```

## A worked example

_To write: a worked example in Cursor: the prompt, what Cursor writes, the call it makes to Build, and what you check before you run it_

## Expected output

The example above should end with: october-close.csv saved.

_To write: a screenshot or sample of the real output for this prompt_

## If it breaks

Paste the error back into Cursor. Errors say what to change, and a `429` says when to retry. Reads are safe to run again.
